You give your friend the keys,
tell him/her to drive the old woman to the hospital,
and wait for the bus with your perfect soulmate.
My husband snickered when I read it to him - he commented it would point out our prejudices - would we stop and help a friend, an old lady, or just think of ourselves and our own happiness? But, he figured out the answer that helped all of them in the end, too.
